Irschenberg – The Caritas Children's Village has been in Irschenberg since 1972.
The 50th anniversary was celebrated with a summer party.
After a two-year Corona break, the Caritas Children's Village Irschenberg recently opened its doors again.
The occasion was a special one: the institution celebrated its 50th birthday.
Numerous visitors did not miss it.
For half a century, children and young people who cannot grow up with their biological parents have found a new home in the Caritas Children's Village.
In 13 children's village families they experience safety, security and care.
Traditionally, the youth welfare facility in Irschenberg opens its doors to the summer festival every year.
This was possible again this year - and a welcome opportunity for many interested people from the area.
Gift for the children on their 50th birthday
While the children enthusiastically explored the extensive grounds with many play, sports and creative stations, the adults enjoyed the musical entertainment provided by the Kolbermoor music school and the culinary offerings on Maibaumplatz.
At midday, village manager Wolfgang Hodbod handed over the new wet playground for playing.
The gift for the children for their 50th birthday was ready just in time the day before and with the hot temperatures it was the attraction of the festival.
Every ten years, the children's village and the local school celebrate together.
In 2022, the school family of the support center was also able to look forward to many guests at the open day, who visited the many activities in and around the school building.
Interested parties also had the opportunity to learn more about the work of the pedagogically trained housemothers and fathers during a guided tour.
Loving atmosphere in Irschenberg
Village manager Hodbod has always attached great importance to giving guests a look behind the scenes: “On the one hand, we want to show what everyday life and community life are like in the children’s village.
On the other hand, we hope that this will make the unusual job of housemother and housefather better known.”
In the children's village families, the pedagogical specialists usually share their lives with six children.
Together with educators, they offer the girls and boys a reliable social environment with constant relationships and a child-friendly, loving atmosphere where fun is not neglected.
All participants at the all-round successful festival agreed that you can have a lot of it in the children's village community.
