Martin Grelics stops as coach of TuS Geretsried – "It doesn't make any sense like that"
Geretsried – After three matchdays in the new season, TuS Geretsried has to look for a coach: Martin Grelics informed the team on Monday evening that the cooperation has ended with immediate effect.
"The attitude of parts of the team and their attitude to the sport no longer corresponds to my idea.
And then it makes no sense to continue,” the coach explains his decision.
Dissatisfied with attitude and attitude
A decision that has emerged in recent weeks.
There was the disappointment about the appearance of the national league team in the last preparatory game in Neuried - after a fantastic training camp immediately before.
There was the speechlessness after the 0:2 defeat against promoted Forstinning, when there was not the usual speech to the team after the end of the game.
Carry on no solution
Because there was nothing more to say?
Now the sports teacher admits that he informed department head Ibro Filan of his decision before the game.
“The timing is not good,” admits Grelics.
But continuing under the circumstances was not a solution.
The decision had matured "about the whole preparation - the training camp excluded".
Problems with participation in training
It was obvious that for some players "preparation was not the priority", the outgoing coach hints that he had problems with the training participation and intensity of one or the other player.
"It's a process that has developed," he emphasizes and makes it clear that his departure is "completely independent of any results".
"Two defeats after three games are not the end of the world."
Only at the end of April this year did the coach extend his contract with the state league club for another season.
At that time, the team was in the middle of a relegation battle, which they ultimately successfully designed with a lot of passion.
"Especially in the second half of the season we were very successful," Grelics reminds that there have been "very good times" in the past three and a half years.
Certain processes repeat themselves
In the spring, the team demonstrated that they wanted to do things differently.
"But certain processes are repeated - I don't just mean holidays, that would be too easy," explains the 36-year-old.
“This should not come across as a total reproach.
That's just the way it is.
But I can't go there."
Filan: Understanding of decision
TuS football boss Ibro Filan shows understanding for his coach's decision: "The decision is consistent when the coach no longer has power.
From his side, the move is understandable.
There were a lot of little things that wear you down in the long run.” According to the head of department, the search for a successor will take its time.
We are looking for someone "who will tackle the boys accordingly, not a laptop trainer, but someone who teaches the basics," says Filan, giving an initial job description.
Principles and concrete ideas are also welcome.
"Quality is there in the squad."
Schneider and Dittmann take over for the time being
For the time being, Hans Schneider, coach of the second team, will take responsibility for the state league team together with assistant coach Daniel Dittmann.
Filan seems to confirm Grelics' allegations in part and announces a tougher line for the coming weeks.
"The opponent has six players, we have two, that can't be," he points out.
"If I don't have the will to always show commitment, I have to find another hobby - or play in the second team."
