The summer school set up by the Basil Al-Assad Equestrian Club in Hama was an appropriate opportunity for a large number of children of all age groups to learn the sport of their parents and grandparents in a scientific and thoughtful way that ensures their mastery of the arts and principles of this ancient sport.
In a statement to SANA’s sports reporter, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Basel Al-Assad Equestrian Club in Hama, Dr. Ghanem Barazi, explained that the summer school set up by the club lasted 45 days and attracted 60 children from 6 to 12 years old for males and from 6 years and above for females, pointing out that the school’s goal is to attract raw materials and talents. Promising equestrian sport and working to refine it in an appropriate manner, especially with the presence of trainers at a high level of experience and efficiency.
Dr. Barazi pointed out that commemorative cups and certificates were presented to the school's participants, and five of them were selected to represent the Hama team, which will participate in the army's show-jumping championship in Damascus tomorrow.
In turn, the trainer and international commissioner, Tawfiq Tayfour, said: “The participants were taught how to break the barrier of fear when dealing with a horse for the first time, control it and deal with it correctly, achieve balance and lead the horse, and then teach them the principles of jumping barriers, indicating that most of the participants in the school do not have prior knowledge. Riding horses, so it was necessary to slow down and focus with them to ensure the desired benefit from the school.
In turn, the child Shahd Tayfour indicated that she learned the principles and arts of equestrian sports well due to the presence of distinguished trainers and her love for this sport, although she had not practiced it before and the dread was present, but soon it faded with the passage of time, expressing her happiness in learning the sport of parents and grandparents and her desire to participate in local and foreign tournaments.
As for the child Abd al-Salam Sabbagh, he showed that equestrian is one of the sports beneficial to the body, as it contributes to strengthening muscles and developing intelligence, so his focus was high while receiving theoretical lessons and practical applications to ensure benefit from them, learning sports and later competing for its titles, especially since equestrianism is an ancient game in Syria and has a large audience. .
It is noteworthy that the Bassel Al-Assad Equestrian Club in Hama will host next month the fifth league race for purebred Arabian horses, with the participation of riders from different governorates.
