Tang Jiabiao and Chen Xuefeng were automatically elected to the board of directors of CUHK and HKU respectively

Four Legislative Council members have resigned since the new government laid off the shift. The former members of the Hong Kong University and CUHK Councils, originally held by the former DAB Zhang Guojun and the Federation of Trade Unions Mak Meijuan respectively, were also suspended due to the resignation of the two members. Re-election is required.

The Legislative Council Secretariat pointed out that only one valid nomination has been received for each of the two positions before the application deadline today (28th). .

The relevant positions must be elected by the current members of the parliament. If there is more than one valid nomination, the vote was originally scheduled to be held next Monday (August 1).

The secretariat pointed out that at the end of the nomination period at 5 pm on July 28, the secretariat only received one valid name for each of the two university council positions. According to the relevant procedures, Deng Jiabiao and Chen Xuefeng were regarded as elected respectively. Members of the Council of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and members of the Council of the University of Hong Kong will not be required to vote.

The proposed amendment to the establishment of the CUHK reorganization of the school board is a "must do": the school board can be set up to hold the actual power of the financial accountant.
