Covid-19: the Constitutional Council validates the new health law

The timing was tight.

This Saturday, the Constitutional Council validated the health law, on the eve of the legal end of two tools for monitoring and collecting data from the epidemic, SI-DEP (which makes it possible to record test results) and Contact Covid (for tracing).

The new health law, definitively adopted by Parliament on Tuesday, provided for their extension until June 30, 2023 for the first and until January 31, 2023 for the second, but its promulgation had been briefly suspended, due to an appeal filed. by 60 LFI deputies.

The wise men of the Constitutional Council then had 8 days to decide on the text, since it was an emergency examination.

They did it in half the time.

A hearing was held Thursday afternoon, during which the rebellious deputies defended their arguments.

They dispute in particular the fact that a negative test could be imposed on travelers going from metropolitan France to overseas in the event of a risk of saturation of the health system on site, while the same possibility from abroad or overseas -sea towards “the national territory” applies in the event of a new dangerous variant.

This constitutes, in their eyes, “a significant difference in treatment depending on the place of origin of the trip”.
