Alfons Schuhbeck (73) has tangible judicial trouble: According to the public prosecutor, the star chef has evaded more than two million euros in taxes.

In autumn he has to answer in court in Munich.

He even faces a prison sentence.

Munich - What will become of Alfons Schuhbeck?

Prosecutors have charged the star chef with tax evasion, and he will have to answer this fall.

Everything is at stake for Schuhbeck before the regional court: he even faces a prison sentence.

The background: According to a landmark decision by the Federal Court of Justice, the judiciary should no longer show mercy if tax evaders have evaded more than one million euros.

According to the indictment by the Munich I public prosecutor, Schuhbeck even evaded more than two million euros.

For him this means: He now needs good explanations for the financial transactions in his restaurants - such as the Orlando am Platzl.

According to the investigation, even accounts were deliberately manipulated there.

Schuhbeck's lawyers initially do not want to comment on this.

The Munich I district court, on the other hand, provides information on the case: "I can confirm that the indictment was admitted," says court spokesman Florian Gliwitzky at the request of our editors.

Accordingly, the persistent investigations against Alfons Schuhbeck were successful.

The result: "Almost unchanged" the court accepted the indictment of the Munich I public prosecutor, says Gliwitzky.

Munich: Schuhbeck is said to have evaded two million euros in taxes – the process in the fall

What's next?

This fall there will be criminal proceedings against the star chef.

According to information from our editorial team, the appointment at the district court will take place at the end of September or in October.

The presumption of innocence applies to Alfons Schuhbeck.

But: If the fierce tax allegations against him are confirmed, he faces a prison sentence.

The case brings back memories of ex-Bayern boss Uli Hoeneß.

He had even evaded 28.5 million euros in taxes and was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in 2014 by the Munich district court.

Legally, Alfons Schuhbeck could face a similar fate.

He has not yet commented on the tax allegations.

In the next eight weeks at the latest, however, he will have to make a statement – then the star chef will be in court as a defendant and will have to fear for his freedom.
