The Russian Defense Ministry announced that an explosion occurred this morning at a temporary ammunition storage site in a military unit near the town of Maiskoye, in the north of the Crimea.
The ministry said in a statement carried by the Russia Today website that as a result of a fire in the military unit, the ammunition stored at the site exploded, without causing serious injuries.
The ministry indicated in a later statement that the fire that broke out has been brought under control, while investigations into its causes have begun.
