These thieves are professionals with the Flex: Unknown persons cut off the catalytic converter of a VW Golf at the Kreuzstraße station (Valley municipality).
There is good money to be made with this unusual loot.
Valley
– The car suddenly made loud noises when a 30-year-old woman from Feldkirchen-Westerham (Rosenheim district) drove to the workshop as a precaution.
There they told her that the catalytic converter in her Golf had disappeared.
Clearly deflected.
According to the police, the thieves must have struck on Tuesday (August 16) when the VW Golf was parked in the parking lot of the Kreuzstraße train station (Valley municipality).
As reported by the Holzkirchner police, the woman from Feldkirchen-Westerham parked her Golf at around 11.45 a.m. on Tuesday at Kreuzstrasse station.
At around 5:45 p.m., she came back and drove off.
Due to the loud driving noise, the woman from Feldkirchen-Westerham went straight to a workshop, where the cause was quickly found: the catalytic converter was missing.
According to the police, the pollutant filter was probably removed and stolen using a flex.
The damage caused by the loot is estimated at around 500 euros.
Who saw something suspicious at Kreuzstrasse station on Tuesday?
Could there be other victims?
The Holzkirchen Police Inspectorate will receive relevant information about the incident on 08024/90740.
The fact that catalytic converters, like here in Kreuzstraße, are boldly cut off by parked cars in broad daylight is due to their "inner values".
As reported by the ADAC, catalytic converters contain very small amounts of the precious metals
palladium, platinum and rhodium.
Since these precious metals are very expensive and raw material prices have risen sharply, it is worth recycling a catalyst that contains up to five grams of the precious metals.
A used catalytic converter is often worth several hundred euros to scrap dealers.
The theft in Kreuzstraße is not the first case of this kind in the region this year.
As early as February 28, a VW Lupo had its "cat" removed from the station car park in Otterfing.
