Thunderstorms and heavy rain flood Bavaria - "Drought drama" continues

Is the long-awaited rain coming to Bavaria?
The forecast predicts thunderstorms and heavy rain.
However, the next heat wave seems to be on the way.
Munich – Heat, dryness, drought: Germany is suffering from dry weather that has been going on for months.
In Bavaria, nature in the north fights for every drop of water.
The current heat wave will end on Thursday, rain is in sight.
However, the amounts of precipitation do not seem to be sufficient to counteract the drought.
Heat wave ends in Bavaria: risk of thunderstorms high on Thursday
The German Weather Service (DWD) expects the first thunderstorms in Bavaria on Thursday.
From late morning, "rain interspersed with local thunderstorms" is likely in the Alps.
In the other regions there will be isolated thunderstorms with heavy rain.
In the evening the risk of thunderstorms increases enormously.
In the Alps, "local exceeding of the storm thresholds of 25 l/sqm in a short time cannot be ruled out", there could also be hail and gusts of wind.
"In the afternoon between the eastern edge of the Alps and the Bavarian Forest, heavy gusts of wind around 90 km/h cannot be completely ruled out."

50 liters per square meter would fall by the weekend, and 100 liters per square meter are also possible locally in the Alps.

"The ground is so dry and hard that it can hardly absorb any water and after that it's often dry, sunny and very warm again from the weekend," said Jung.
The Germans are literally caught in permanent heat mode.
In the next week, the highs will rise again to 30 degrees and above, at the top to 35 or 36 degrees.
