The Guinean collective Front national pour la defense de la Constitution (FNDC) has announced that it has suspended its call to demonstrate next week for the return to power of civilians, following a request from the Economic Community of African States to West (ECOWAS) and Christians in the country.
This coalition of parties, trade unions and civil society organizations has already organized demonstrations on July 28 and 29 and August 17.
Seven people were killed during these days of protest.
The FNDC had called for “
citizen and peaceful
” demonstrations on August 29 and September 4 in Conakry and its suburbs, and on September 5 throughout the country.

acceded to the request of the Heads of State of ECOWAS and the Christians of Guinea to suspend the citizen and peaceful demonstrations

discussed with senior leaders of ECOWAS and certain presidents

The ECOWAS mediator in the Guinean crisis, former Beninese President Thomas Boni Yayi, has been in Guinea since August 21.
He has already met in particular with the Transitional Parliament, leaders of political coalitions and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), according to an AFP journalist.

The objective of this second truce
", after a previous one at the end of July, "
is to give yet another chance to the mediation of ECOWAS so that it can find a way out of (the) Guinean crisis maintained by the junta military
,” the FNDC said in the statement.
The Front, however, maintains the demonstration scheduled for September 5 for which it "
calls for a mobilization to denounce the killings perpetrated
" by the authorities and "
demand the release of citizens unjustly arrested
" during demonstrations and "
demand a rapid return to order constitutional
”.
