During the "Summer of Recycling" competition held last July, various activities were held in leading cities and councils in Israel, to increase the amount of packaging in the orange bin.

Weighing all the collection data from the participating authorities during the month of the competition, there was a 45% increase in the collection data of the packaging waste of the city of Afula, compared to the average collection data of the first quarter of this year in the city, which brought it to the first place and to win the grand prize - a performance by Eliad Nahum.

Nesher and Yavneh came in second and third places, which are also respected.

Afula Mayor Avi Elkabatz:

"In order to raise awareness of the issue of recycling among the residents, the Municipality of Afula produced a huge digital and outdoor campaign in cooperation with the recycling corporation 'Tamir' and the presenter "Daddy the Cat" who called on the residents of Afula to join the competition, sort and separate all the packaging intended for recycling and throw them in the nearby orange bins to their home. Indeed, the residents of Afula raised the gauntlet and recorded a 45% jump in the collection data in July compared to the data of the first quarter of 2022, the highest of all the authorities that participated in the competition. In addition, in addition to preserving the quality of the environment for all of us, the residents of the city who took first place also won At the performance of the singer Eliad Nahum".

Rani Idler, CEO of Tamir Corporation

: "We thank all the authorities that took part in the 'Summer of Recycling' initiative and congratulate the Municipality of Afula, which won first place in the competition. The big winners are the residents of Afula, who made sure all month to separate packaging into the orange bins and thus reduce their landfilling. The recycling plants in Israel are prepared to receive large quantities of packaging waste of all kinds, and everything depends on the cooperation of the residents. In order to strengthen the public's trust and provide optimal service, sensors were installed in the orange bins in Afula, with the help of which they know at any given moment how full the orange bins are, and through these systems it is possible to empty the bins at the right time before they "overflow". I thank the municipality and the residents of Afula for the beautiful mobilization in July and ask that you continue to separate the packaging at home into the orange bins throughout the months of the year, a small effort at home brings a huge contribution to the environment."
