It was set up very quickly.

Nevertheless, the Penzberger Volksfest 2022 was a successful event.

At least that is the unanimous opinion of the city and the landlord.

They now want to discuss how the Oktoberfest on the Berghalde will continue.

On the part of the visitors, however, criticism can also be heard.

Penzberg - "Very satisfied" is Holger Controller with the Penzberger Volksfest 2022. As reported, the 49-year-old stepped in as the host at very short notice after the long-standing host Christian Fahrenschon surprisingly jumped off in July.

He cited staffing issues as the reason.

Marquee was almost “always full”

As Regulator summed up on Monday yesterday, the marquee, which offers space for 2,200 people, was “always full” except for two days.

Among other things, the family afternoon last Wednesday was not well attended due to the bad weather.

And since some of the chefs who had already been booked simply didn't show up at short notice, the guests sometimes had to wait longer for their food, especially on the first few days, admits Regeler.

This is also criticized by some readers of the local newspaper who have emailed the editors.

At the city's senior afternoon, Ingrid and Walter Lovasi complain, for example, that not everyone who received a voucher for half a chicken actually received this dish.

Because of "poor conditions in the grill station" alternatively schnitzel were offered.

However, these were "sold out very quickly", "so that some of the visitors - often the older ones, who could no longer shout and wave so loudly or did not want to - were fobbed off with a curry sausage in the truest sense of the word," the two write.

Some of the visitors left the marquee frustrated, even after waiting in some cases for more than two hours without having received a meal.

Citizens criticize senior afternoon

Festival visitor Fritz Wilhelm is also critical.

"I accepted the invitation to the senior citizens' afternoon and after the forced break caused by the pandemic, I was looking forward to the tasty mass of festival beer, but unfortunately there was only half a glass or one non-alcoholic drink," he writes.

When asked, Thomas Sendl, head of the cultural office in the town hall, confirmed that the city actually only issued vouchers for half a mass at this year's senior citizens' afternoon - unlike in previous years.

It used to be vouchers for half a mass twice.

Why was that?

Sendl could not answer this question.

The town hall spokesman paid Festwirt Controller "the utmost respect" for being able to organize the event in such a short time.

The building yard also helped with this.

“The visit was very good.

The mood was very good,” said Sendl.

He knew that not everything worked out one hundred percent.

But at least "the service area worked very well".

showman satisfied

"Consistently positive" is also the showman Kurt Geier's opinion.

The Penzbergers were noticeably happy that the Oktoberfest could still take place.

Geier criticized the short-term cancellation of the long-time host Christian Fahrenschon as "actually incomprehensible".

She was "not in good business order".

Many industries are currently struggling with personnel problems – including the showmen.

"But somehow everything is manageable," says Geier.

Police: Everything went “wonderfully”

For him, the Penzberger Wiesn was a "very good event" and the cooperation with the city was "super".

And: He would like to come back next year with Festwirt Regulator.

Controller also emphasized: I would do it again. "As city hall spokesman Sendl informed, you will now sit down with controller "promptly", take stock and work out a perspective for 2023.

This must then be dealt with by the VFS committee of the city and the city council.

Incidentally, the police also drew a positive conclusion from the Penzberger Wiesn 2022. Everything went “wonderfully”, according to a police spokesman.

There were no incidents.
