On the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, discussed with Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramtane Lamamra the latest developments on the Arab arena, where views were agreed on the need to unify the Arab ranks and strengthen joint Arab action in facing the challenges and dangers they face. Arab countries, while emphasizing that the Palestinian cause and the liberation of the Arab lands occupied by “Israel” remain the main and central issue.

Minister Miqdad expressed Syria's confidence in the role that Algeria can play to unite the Arab ranks and restore the spirit of solidarity among Arab countries.

In turn, Minister Lamamra reiterated Algeria's firm position in supporting Syria to preserve its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and to combat terrorism in it, praising Syria's unparalleled steadfastness during the past years.

The two ministers discussed ways to develop cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the various political, economic and cultural sectors and expressed their satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations, emphasizing the need to push them forward. They also agreed to continue consultation and coordination, whether with regard to cooperation between the two countries or joint Arab action.

Within the framework of his meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly, Minister Miqdad met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi. Nutrition and other topics.

During the meeting, they stressed the need to guarantee Syria's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, to fully restore its security, stability and role, and to eliminate terrorism in its various forms.

The two meetings were attended by Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, Rania Al Haj Ali, Director of the Organizations Department, and Ihab Hamed from the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
