Ukrainians and Russians flee: "Great challenge" for Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

This is not yet noticeable in the district.

"We have not heard anything about this so far," says the spokeswoman for the district office, Marlis Peischer, when asked about Russian refugees between Icking and Jachenau.

As soon as the first Russian refugees arrive in the district, the district authorities would try to prevent them from meeting with the Ukrainians accommodated here: "If there is a possibility, accommodation in different accommodations is being considered," says Peischer.

"In the further course" it is a question of the available capacities.

"So there is no relief in sight here, quite the opposite: we are again faced with a major challenge."

The district office must provide accommodation for the “refugees from other crisis areas such as Syria and Afghanistan.

According to Peischer, there are currently 698 asylum seekers in the district whose asylum procedures are still ongoing.

In addition, the authority counts “275 people who are entitled to stay and 162 Afghan local workers in the transitional hostel.” The latter is run by the government of Upper Bavaria in the city of Geretsried.
