Whether it will still be something with the new building of the Poing high school?

A feasibility study has now been presented with a new cost estimate.

A groundbreaking decision will be made on October 24th.

Poing – When the district council and the district of Ebersberg drew up the "master plan for schools" in 2017, it was said that the new high school in Poing (which would be the fifth in the district) should go into operation for the 2024/25 school year.

And: That the new building would cost around 59.5 million euros gross.

Twice: puff cake.

According to the latest estimate by the district office, the costs have almost doubled to 110.25 million euros.

In words: one hundred million two hundred and fifty thousand euros.

The district office now named this amount at the meeting of the committee for real estate, school buildings and procurement (LSV) of the district council.

New cost estimate: 110.25 million euros

The total includes a 30 percent risk reserve for the school building (total amount: 90.8 million euros) and for the underground car park for 100 parking spaces (6 million euros) and 20 percent for the triple sports hall (12.45 million euros).

The total sum is three million euros for IT and media equipment.

And then there are the annual operating costs (management, maintenance, staff).

The statement by the district office states: "It can currently be assumed that (...) an amount of at least 1.5 million euros per year will be incurred."

Operating costs are estimated at 1.5 million euros per year

For cost reasons, the district council has put the new building (as well as the planned vocational school center in Grafing) on a waiting list.

District Administrator Robert Niedergesäß (CSU) announced at the LSV meeting on Wednesday that this would be discussed and decided at the district council meeting on October 24th.

There, Katrin Kratzenberg, managing director of the architects' office karlundp from Munich, presented the feasibility study commissioned by the district.

This brought little surprise to light: on the free, 35,000 square meter plot in Poing's Lerchenwinkel development area, the construction of a high school for around 1,000 pupils, a triple sports hall and outdoor sports facility and an underground car park with 100 parking spaces would be feasible.

Kratzenberg presented three different variants with two to four buildings and their respective arrangement on the property.

Will the Gymnasium Poing stay on the waiting list?

At the end of October 2021, the district council decided to approve up to 1.35 million euros from budget remnants for preparatory measures such as preliminary planning and a feasibility study for the high school.

The study has now been presented, along with the current cost estimate including possible state subsidies: According to the district office, this could be around 20 to 30 million euros.

Groundbreaking decision on October 24th in the district council

All well and good, the actual decision that the district council has had to make since 2018 (this year both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance gave their approval for the Poing Gymnasium) was not made in the LSV committee either: Will the Gymnasium built promptly, or will the major project remain on the waiting list (probably until the end of the day)?

October 24th will show whether the never-ending story will come to an end soon - or whether it will continue indefinitely.
