The president, Joe Biden, announced this Thursday that he will sign an executive order to pardon all citizens who have been convicted of "simple possession" of marijuana, while his Administration takes a step towards the decriminalization of this drug and addresses the charging practices criminal offenses that disproportionately affect Latinos and other minorities.
Biden is also calling on governors to grant
similar pardons to those convicted of
marijuana-related state crimes, which are the vast majority of possession cases.
