The search took months.

A site has now been found for a new fire station in Warngau.

– For a long time, the Warngau volunteer fire brigade warned that the space in the fire station behind the town hall and the Altwirt property was too cramped.

For the new fire engine, which was delivered this summer, even a temporary garage extension was necessary to get the LF 20 under a roof so that it is always ready for use (we reported).

But that doesn't solve all the problems: the building and the exit in a confusing, tight curve simply no longer meet today's requirements.

This was even certified by the municipal accident insurance company in an expert report.

In September 2021, the municipal council decided to build a new building at a new location.

But where?

Since October 2021, a working group (AG) with representatives from the community and fire brigade has been looking for a location.

"A difficult birth," said Mayor Klaus Thurnhuber (FWG) on Tuesday evening in the municipal council.

There he presented the result: The new fire station is to be built on a meadow west of the daycare center at Kapellenfeld and south of the community's woodchip thermal power station.

Land already belongs to the municipality

The AG had also targeted six potential locations with the help of advice on building law and nature conservation.

The area at Kapellenfeld was the only one already owned by the community.

In terms of location, it wasn't the very first choice.

The head of the town hall hints that negotiations about a private property closer to the B 318 have failed: "There are certain wishes that cannot be fulfilled," says Thurnhuber.

However, the location that has now been selected also has another advantage over the potential alternatives: an extension would be possible.

"We don't know what will happen in 20 years," says Thurnhuber.

Supply and disposal are also already available.

So there can be no question of an emergency solution: "This property has always had its charms," ​​says Thurhuber.

Dirt road as a quick connection to the B318

"It is important that the fire brigade is deployed quickly without having to drive through the entire village," emphasizes the head of the town hall.

The new location is connected to the MB 10 district road via the access road to the woodchip thermal power station.

"We may have to widen the trumpet at the confluence," says Thurnhuber.

A fast connection to the B 318 is to be created by asphalting a dirt road north of Allerheiligen, which is only open to the fire brigade on duty and not to general traffic.

The planned location convinced the municipal council.

"The fact that we can expand there is the right thing for the future, it can work," said Josef Gschwendtner (FWG), himself chairman of the military.

Engelfried Beilhack (CSU) saw this as an advantage, as well as the fact that the municipality no longer needed to invest any money in buying a plot of land.

Proximity to primary school and daycare

The immediate proximity to the recently expanded day care center with kindergarten and after-school care center as well as to the primary school was not seen as a shortcoming by the municipal council.

On the contrary: "If something were to happen, the fire brigade would be right there," said Adolf Schwarzer (CSU).

The exercises of the volunteers, Thurnhuber adds, take place outside the opening times of the day care center anyway.

Because of the fire brigade Direttissima over the dirt road to the B 318, the community will have to contact the federal government, whose approval is required, said Reinhard Bucher (Greens) and appealed: "It would be nice to then have a cost sharing with the construction authority."

In order to pave the way for the new building, the municipal council must create building rights with an amendment to the "Warngau Kiga und Hort" development plan.

The committee intends to make the decision to set up the system at the next meeting.

"I'm glad it can start in the foreseeable future," said Deputy Mayor Leonhard Obermüller (CSU), "so that the fire brigade can work safely and effectively for the common good."
