Scientists this week heralded what could be new hope in the fight against HIV, the virus that causes the disease AIDS, by releasing results of an experimental vaccine that induces the development of broadly neutralizing antibodies against the virus.
While these are just the results of a Phase 1 study—carried out by a small group of volunteers—the findings suggest that two doses of the vaccine can elicit an immune response against the human immunodeficiency virus.
