Dua Lipa, one of the most famous pop singers in the world, announced last month that she does not intend to perform at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar despite all the rumors surrounding her, as she opposes the Muslim country's policy that prohibits homosexuality.

It is now being published in England that, despite the singer's public claim, her father, who serves as her agent, did hold talks with the Qataris and tried to push for his daughter's show in the Muslim country that hosts the prestigious football tournament.

Dua Lipa, 27, came out against the Qataris, claiming that she had no intention of performing there until the country changes its ways and improves its attitude when it comes to human rights.

This announcement of hers delighted many in the LGBT community, including Elton John, her big hit partner.

However, now in the "Daily Mail" are revealed correspondence between the father of the Kosovo-born singer, Dukajane Lipa, who approached the organizing committee of the World Cup in Qatar several times in the last two years and offered her a show.

"I represent my daughter, the artist Dua Lipa, and am ready to hold talks about her show at the opening ceremony," he wrote, providing data on her international success and trying to open financial negotiations.

Lipa herself, who previously also came out against Israel, wrote that she was never involved in the talks about her performance in Qatar: "There is a lot of speculation about my performance at the opening ceremony of the World Cup... I will not perform, and I was not involved in the negotiations for the performance... I will encourage England from afar, and look forward to visiting Qatar when it fulfills all its promises regarding the realization of human rights when it won the bid to host the World Cup."

Despite the contradiction between the claims, her father insists that he contacted the Qataris without her knowledge.
