The accommodation of refugees is a hot topic in the district of Erding.

Now the next conflict has broken out in the Fraunberg hamlet of Großhündlbach.

Fraunberg - A real estate company bought an older house and offered it to the district office to accommodate refugees.

Initially, neither neighbors nor the municipality of Fraunberg were informed.

Neighbor Gisela Neumaier writes in a letter to the local newspaper that one day employees of the district administration were on site and the oil tank was filled.

Mayor Hans Wiesmaier, who lives nearby, also knew nothing and was surprised.

Was he passed over?

Suddenly refugee accommodation in the district of Erding: the community and residents knew nothing

Research by our newspaper revealed that the house was sold on September 22 and a family with two children had to move out.

Neumaier claims to have learned from the new owner: "They no longer fit into the concept." In the village, it is said that the installation of drywall could create space for up to 30 refugees.

"What are these mostly young people supposed to do all day?"

Neumaier and the head of the town hall also consider the decision to be wrong because it is a remote hamlet with poor connections.

She asks herself: "What are these mostly young people supposed to do all day?"

Wiesmaier certainly sees the situation, which is becoming increasingly difficult for the district of Erding, of having to accommodate more and more refugees.

New ones come every day.

There are already 54 people living in Fraunberg. According to a distribution key, "there may be another twelve," says Wiesmaier.

"We currently see no end and are therefore happy when the district office is offered vacant properties." But this location is extremely unsuitable, also because the neighboring buildings are very close.

"Why are we presented with a fait accompli?"

The villagers are particularly upset about the lack of communication from the district office.

"Why are we presented with a fait accompli?" complains people in Großhündlbach.

Nobody knows who will move in here.

Karin Fuchs-Weber, head of the district administrator's office, explains when asked by our newspaper: "We keep getting offers for accommodation.

The rental here took place in November.

Among other things, the building was checked for fire protection.” The representative of the district office sees the fact that neither the mayor nor the local residents were informed differently: “This statement is not entirely correct.

The communities are informed – usually before asylum seekers are assigned.”

Here, through "upgrading work" and corresponding observations, neighbors would have noticed before a possible occupancy that the building was probably rented to the district office.

"We regret that on the part of the district office. But to date no asylum seekers have been accommodated here," says Fuchs-Weber.

The community will receive information in advance.

She explains that her office does not receive any advance information from the government about who will ultimately move in.

“Nevertheless, we have been trying to find acceptable solutions for years.”

Despite all the inconsistencies so far, the mayor wants to ensure that there is no anti-refugee sentiment here.

“These people are not to blame for this situation, have probably experienced a lot of bad things and are happy to finally have a roof over their heads.

We should all stand together and help them as much as we can.

After all, people from other countries and cultures have lived in our community for a long time.”
