Marie-Claude Pietragalla: “That day when I fell on stage in front of 4000 people…”

FIGARO LIVE – The choreographer is part of the jury for the ninth season of “Prodiges”, broadcast this Thursday, December 22, at 9:10 p.m. on France 2. Guest of “Buzz TV”, she takes the opportunity to share her worst career memory.

TV MAGAZINE.

- In this ninth season of “Prodigies”, fifteen children aged nine to sixteen perform on stage in three distinct categories: music, dance and song.

How would you qualify the cast of this edition?

Marie-Claude PIETRAGALLA.

-

In all three disciplines, he is very good!

It's always a pleasure to find these children who are passionate.

This show reminds me of my beginnings, when I started dancing with stars in my eyes.

It's interesting to show the hard work and tenacity of the children on the one hand, and then the passion and love they feel for their discipline on the other.

Some candidates are very promising, even if the road is long.

This year, a little dancer, whom I found magnificent, has a lot of talent.

She can go far.

The three jurors of “Prodigies” respond while waiting for December 22

You are referring to Sacha, 12 years old…

Yes, she has a delicacy, a fragility, and a presence.

She is in a simplicity, an obviousness of the movement and she struck me a lot.

This is the magic of this art.

All of a sudden, you don't know why but you are overwhelmed!

I hope she will have a long life as an artist and that she will be able to blossom.

"You shouldn't lie to a child"

Marie-Claude Pietragalla, guest of "Buzz TV".

What kind of juror are you?

Whether it's Gautier Capuçon for the music, or Julie Fuchs for the singing, we're all very kind and caring.

The comments are always intelligent because we consider that we must provide supervision throughout the program insofar as the participants are stressed.

Not only is it a competition in front of a jury but it's also filmed on public service television so you really have to support them.

However, you should not lie to a child.

You have to tell him what's going or not.

They are not stupid and understand things.

At the end of the semi-final, you must eliminate two children.

Do you sometimes have to comfort them?

It's always the hardest time… When they're very young, it's complicated.

Especially since they are candidates aged 9 to 16, which means that there may be a generation that separates them.

It's hard to compare a teenager and a child.

Could you have participated in “Prodiges” when you were a child?

Considering my shyness when I was a kid, I don't think so... That said, I faced a discipline at the Paris Opera which was not easy because it was very impressive.

My daughter, if she had wanted to be part of the cast, I would have encouraged her.

She danced, she does Kung-fu and she went to film school to become a director.

"I don't really watch 'Dancing with the Stars'"

Marie-Claude Pietragalla, guest of "Buzz TV".

Before joining “Prodiges”, you remained five seasons in the jury of “Dancing with the stars”.

Are you still following the show?

No, not really, because I don't watch much TV.

I have good memories of it, but it's not at all the same thing as "Prodiges" since the candidates didn't want to make dance their profession.

We are in entertainment.

It's good that other jurors bring their universe and their vision.

I was very happy to bring contemporary dance to this show.

What is your worst career memory?

I remember this great first in Japan.

The Paris Opera moves to Tokyo and we perform Rudolf Nureyev's Don Quixote.

The first entry I have to do is this: the prima ballerina runs, does a big throw, stands and does a big variation of moves.

So I start from the backstage, I accelerate and I have a masterful meal... I slide on my stomach, and in a tutu, of course... I get up casually, and the stress disappears, because the worst is arrived: you have spread out in front of everyone.

It must have been a room of 4000 people so we swallow our pride.
