A two-month-old boy was found dead on Friday after a migrant boat sank off the island of Lesbos in Greece, the medical examiner told AFP on Saturday.
The infant was taken to hospital where it was declared dead, said the medical examiner, Theodoros Nousias.
A zodiac carrying migrants, mainly from Africa, overturned when it hit rocks in the Fara area, according to sources at the Lesbos migrant reception center.
During the rescue operations, 34 men, women and children were found alive.
Two people were slightly injured.
According to the Greek Coast Guard, 1,500 people were rescued during the first 8 months of 2022, compared to just under 600 last year.
