The Russian Foreign Ministry warned Japan against adopting a policy of unbridled militarization and working to strengthen its offensive weapons, stressing that this would lead to an increase in tension in the Asia-Pacific region.

Commenting on the update of Japan’s strategic documents on national security, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement today, according to Russia Today: “We have paid attention to Japan’s adoption on December 16 of this year of an updated version of three doctrinal documents, which are the National Security Strategy, the National Defense Strategy, and the National Security Plan.” Defense development, and it is clear from its content that Tokyo has embarked on a path of unprecedented strengthening of its military power, including the acquisition of offensive weapons.

"We warned some time ago of Tokyo's apparent avoidance of acknowledging the results of World War II, which form the basis of the modern world order system," the ministry added.

The Foreign Ministry considered that this indicates an explicit rejection by the Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's administration of peaceful development and what previous generations of politicians announced and returned to the path of unbridled militarization, which will inevitably raise new security challenges and lead to an increase in tension in the Asia-Pacific region.
