Thailand: boxer in the middle of the rice fields
It is possible to follow Thai boxing training in the middle of the green rice fields of Thailand.

The dense forest, the green rice fields and the mist enveloping the hills invite you to daydream in the confines of this Northern Thailand.
But it is not for the pleasure of contemplation that you have arrived there, in Pai, a mountain town three hours from Chiang Mai.
It is to follow a daily training of muay thai, or Thai boxing, twice a day, for seven days, given by former champions to boxers from all over the world.
It is also to experience this essential component of Thai culture as closely as possible.
Nicknamed “the art of eight limbs” – in reference to the fists, elbows, knees and feet used – this combat sport has been practiced here since the 16th century.
It finds its origin in ancestral martial practices, notably muay boran (traditional boxing) and krabi krabong (weapons practice), themselves stemming from centuries-old Khmer martial arts.
