After killing an 80-year-old arrest warrant against grandchildren

After the brutal killing of an elderly woman in Schöneiche near Berlin (Oder-Spree), an arrest warrant has been issued against the 37-year-old grandson.

This was announced by the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt (Oder), Ricarda Böhme, on Tuesday.

The man is urgently suspected of having killed the 80-year-old.

According to the spokeswoman, the result of the autopsy was already known on Saturday.

Schöneiche – "The cause of death was massive violence." She initially did not share any further details.

A man discovered the lifeless woman in an outbuilding on her property in Schöneiche on Friday afternoon and alerted the rescue workers.

According to the police, during the subsequent investigation there were indications of a person who is said to have been in a car near the crime scene.

The police were looking for a motorist and stopped him on Bundesstraße 1 near Vogelsdorf.

When the police tried to apprehend him, the 37-year-old German reportedly tried to violently snatch the service weapon from a police officer.

A shot was fired that injured the suspect's hand and thigh, said the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office.

Police had previously reported that an officer shot the man, injuring his hand.

Two police officers were also injured in the operation.

Details were not given.

According to the public prosecutor's office, there is no danger to life.

According to spokeswoman Böhme, the 37-year-old is currently in the detention hospital of the Brandenburg an der Havel detention center.

The public prosecutor's office is investigating because of urgent suspicion of manslaughter and, among other things, because of an assault on law enforcement officers and bodily harm.
