Fürstenfeldbruck – A carpet of words magically rose into the air.
On December 8, around 70 children and adults were on board, who were taken on a journey into the world of stories in the city library in the Aumühle in order to discover strange characters.
The well-known actor and audio book speaker Rainer Strecker from Berlin staged the picture book "Faber's Treasure" by Cornelia Funke for listening and participation.
He was artistically accompanied by the actress Meyrem Moutaoukklix (Berlin) and the calligrapher Merle Michaelis (Kiel).
A firework of words, sounds and sound effects was ignited and made the tower of the Aumühle ring and vibrate.
Words make the carpet fly
Arabic characters merged into words that all could read.
“Who knows the Arabic word for white, and for green?
And what does heaven, earth, river or home mean?” The eyes of the children who could answer these questions lit up – and for everyone else it became clear what it means to not be able to speak a language and not be able to read the words.
Only those who have mastered the magic of words can make the carpet fly.
“Books and stories are like magic carpets.
You can go anywhere you want with it.” That was the message that Rainer Strecker gave to his enthusiastic audience.
And that more playful events like this are needed to learn from each other and understand each other better was the unanimous opinion and wish of all participants.
