A season without a warm outdoor pool?

The future of the popular Miesbach leisure facility still hangs in the balance.

When more concrete budget figures are available in January, the city council should decide.

Many ongoing projects, plus a tense financial situation and a handful of projects that are therefore on the brink - it's guaranteed not to be boring in Miesbach in 2023.

Miesbach - Despite all the difficulties, Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller is optimistic: "We will bring it to a successful conclusion." He would be supported by a good administration and a strong city council.

"I'm not afraid of the new year, even if the financial situation hangs over us like the sword of Damocles.

But we have to deal with it like everyone else.” These are the projects in detail:

Children's home in the monastery

The conversion of the protected monastery on Münchner Straße into a children's home is currently in the construction phase.

Completion is scheduled for July 2023.

Most recently, another 400,000 euros were added as a result of the general increase in construction costs.

The total costs now amount to 6.8 million euros.

However, Braunmiller hopes that the orders that have not yet been placed will perhaps not be so bad after all.

He is satisfied with the course of events: “The children's home is taking shape.

It will be very nice.

The city can be proud of that – especially the special flair of this old building.”

Charity home/House for children

The Haus für Kinder project – the conversion of the Schaffner Benefiziatenhaus on Kolpingstraße into a day-care center that is operated jointly with the Catholic parish – is currently in the detailed planning phase, followed by the detailed planning.

According to Braunmiller, the goal is to start the conversion at the end of 2023.

This should be completed by August 2024.

The cost: 2.5 million euros.

moat bridge

The new construction of the Schopfgrabenbrücke is a major project that the city intends to implement at the end of the year.

The new bridge is expected to cost around 1.4 million euros.

A difficult time begins not only for the residents in November, because through traffic is also blocked and diverted via the Wies.

"An unpleasant situation," the mayor knows, "but there is no other way."

heated outdoor pool

Will it be rebuilt now or later?

There is still a big question mark behind the heated outdoor pool.

As reported, the outdoor pool is to be renovated, but the unexpected increase in costs from 4.1 to 4.8 million euros meant that the original plan - construction to start in September 2022, completion by May 2023 - had to be scrapped.

The 700,000 euros are simply too much - they have to be absorbed first.

The city and city council have already worked in this direction (we reported), but there are still no handy figures for 2023. They will not be available until January, so the topic should be on the agenda in the first meeting of the new year.

Braunmiller explains the problem as follows: “Our big problem is the cost increases, such as for electricity.

These values put a strain on the administration budget and thus influence our investments.” Because the surplus in the administration budget results in the funds for debt repayment.

If too little is left in the administrative budget, the district office does not give the green light for further debts.

flood protection

The planning approval process for flood protection in Bergham is currently underway.

Specifically, it is about the coordination of how the planned partition walls should be positioned.

According to Braunmiller, the decision is expected in 2023.

In Kleinthal, Miesbach's second flood hotspot, the first step is to coordinate the design planning along with the Floigerbach piping and retention basin.

In addition, it is being examined whether three places on the adjacent meadow could be converted into a water retention facility in order to be able to mitigate at least part of the flooding.

Although this is no protection for a HQ 100, i.e. a flood with a 100-year probability, it should be part of the HQ 100 concept.

The advantage: the costs for this would then be eligible for funding.

Riviera

The next steps in the design of the Riviera will also be decided in January - depending on the budget situation.

The question is whether the phased plan developed for the redesign of the green area can be retained or whether it needs to be adjusted.

adventure playground

With the adventure inclusion playground at Nordgraben, the city has an ambitious project ahead of it.

Great efforts are currently being made to acquire the necessary money through donations.

The costs are currently estimated at 220,000 euros plus x.

Again, January will be pivotal to what is possible in the new year.

heating center

Preliminary planning work for the planned Auf der Grün heating system will begin in 2023.

As reported, the streets on Grün/Von-Vollmar-Straße and Frauenschul-/Bergwerkstraße are to be connected.

After that, a breakthrough under Schlierach and the railway embankment is planned in order to connect and supply the ensemble-protected inner city.

Based on questionnaires, MW Biomasse AG creates a local heating supply concept with a price model.

Personal offers are planned until summer 2023.

Then it will be built.

The first deliveries are planned for the end of 2024.

In 2025, the connection of the town hall, which has so far been heated with electricity, is also planned.

Until then, a water-carrying system must first be installed in the town hall.

Braunmiller: "It will be a major operation."

Living in Gschwendt

The new residential area Am Gschwendt 2022 did not play a major role in the public meetings of the city council, but according to Braunmiller, a lot has happened behind the scenes.

The details of this are to be published in January.

schools

After the attic conversion at the middle school and the fire protection optimization in the elementary school were completed in 2022, all that remains is the general renovation of the elementary school in Parsberg.

If the existing plans are retained, planning will begin in 2024. Execution would then be planned for 2025.

Marseille

The young partnership with the French city of Marseillan has not gotten off the starting blocks since the contract was signed in October 2020 due to corona.

In 2023, however, the exchange should finally start and be filled with life.

The town of Miesbach is invited to the spring festival – the fête du printemps – which takes place in Marseillan from April 8th to 10th, i.e. over Easter.

The three other twin towns of Caudete (Spain), Malmedy (Belgium) and Castlebayney (Ireland) are also taking part.

Miesbach wants to send a delegation with the mayor, city council members as well as costume and music groups.

Participants are still being sought.

The aim is to represent Miesbach well at the first big meeting.
