Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Ofir Akunis intends to appoint former Knesset member Esnat Mark as CEO of the ministry - this was learned today (Tuesday) by Walla!. Mark served as a member of Knesset on behalf of the Likud in the 21st and 23rd Knesset but was elected in an unrealistic place in the last primaries. She is considered to be close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara, and in recent weeks her name has also been mentioned as a possible candidate for the position of Cabinet Secretary or Knesset CEO.
Akunis decided to appoint her as CEO in his office and as of now she is the first CEO expected to be appointed in the 37th government.
Mark's appointment will be submitted for government approval subject to the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Government Service Commission.
Mark's son, Lidor Mark, was arrested last month on suspicion of assault and threatening a city inspector who asked to give him a traffic report.
26-year-old Mark was released under restrictive conditions.
Also, about a year ago, an indictment was filed against him for threatening police officers.
