Today, the Palestinian people commemorate the Palestinian Martyr's Day, which was established to commemorate the souls of the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Palestine, its freedom and independence in confronting the Israeli occupation.
On this day in 1969, “Martyr’s Day” was announced on the fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of Ahmed Musa Salameh, who was the first to carry out a commando operation in 1965 against the occupation. This day also commemorates the martyrdom of 25 Palestinians on January 7, 1948 in Bab al-Khalil area in occupied Jerusalem, at the hands of the Zionist Irgun gangs.
Palestinian human rights institutions have documented, according to Wafa Agency, the martyrdom of 230 Palestinians during the past year alone, while the Palestinians, in their struggle since the Nakba in 1948, have sacrificed more than 100,000 martyrs on the path to freedom.
Since 1967, the captive movement has presented 233 martyrs, including 86 as a result of willful killing, 73 as a result of torture, and 74 as a result of deliberate medical negligence, while the occupation continues to detain the bodies of 372 martyrs in refrigerators and graves of numbers.
The Palestinians affirm that Martyr’s Day is a great national day, in which they remember their martyrs whose blood soaked the land of Palestine on the path to freedom, independence and return, noting that the blood of the Palestinian people is still bleeding as a result of the crimes and aggressions of the occupation, where every day a martyr falls, while the international community remains silent about this. crimes, or he is satisfied with timid convictions that encourage the occupation to persist in its crimes.
The Palestinians stress their adherence to what the martyrs sacrificed for, and to continue the struggle and steadfastness in confronting this occupation, inspired by the martyrs who died in defense of Palestine, its soil and its sanctities, sacrifice and redemption.
