Moving news from Munich: Little Marco (8) underwent a successful operation after spending well over two years in the LMU Clinic.
Munich – He bravely endured 948 days in the pediatric cardiology department at the LMU Clinic.
Now little Marco (8) finally got his donor heart.
The transplantation in Munich was successfully carried out last Thursday (January 5), as the hospital has now announced.

In February 2020, Marco was ill with influenza, which did not fully heal and attacked his heart.
His heart muscle was irreversibly damaged.
As a result, he had an artificial heart put in.
A "normal" life outside the walls of the clinic was out of the question.
The long wait for a donor began.
"In an operation that lasted around five hours, the artificial heart was replaced by the donor organ by our surgical team led by Prof. Hörer and Prof. Kari," informed the LMU Klinikum about the complicated procedure at the beginning of the year.
The little patient is currently still recovering, "we hope that we can send him home soon".
In the case of children in particular, the search for suitable donor organs is extremely difficult, emphasized Christian Hagl, Clinic Director of Cardiac Surgery.
Further deals for the donor were not initially known.
