Artificial intelligence at the Paris Olympics: why this bill worries

The Senate will examine from January 24 the bill relating to the 2024 Olympics, which will allow, on an experimental basis, the use of algorithms


"Augmented cameras", "automated video surveillance", "use of algorithms"... Whether they come from the government, opponents, the National Commission for Informatics and Freedoms (Cnil) or the Council of State, the expressions vary but designate a single objective: to rely on artificial intelligence to analyze, detect and report certain “suspicious” behaviors or objects in real time.

The principle will apply to images filmed by drones and video protection of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, but may also concern major sporting, festive or cultural events.
