Five soldiers were recorded when the van they were traveling in got stuck in a massive flood in the Negev.

The five had to get out on their own, climbed on the roof of the vehicle and from there jumped to land.

The commander of the force was tried by the commander of the brigade, and was punished with a conditional bandage only.

In the documentation obtained by Walla, the soldiers' vehicle appears to be half submerged in the flow of the stream.

It seems that the soldiers received help from civilians on the spot, and tried to escape using a rope thrown to them by one of the bystanders.

"Jump, don't get stuck there," shouted one of the people in the video.

From the investigation conducted in the division, it emerged that the engineering soldiers left for engineering work in the Yatbata area in the Arabah around 06:00 in the morning.

At around 11:00 a.m. a flow began in the stream, south of the engineering works in the field.

At 12:00 the force left the area.

Ten minutes later, after the soldiers saw that they could not find an off-road route that would allow them to leave the area, they tried to cross the stream despite the water because the point seemed to them a violation, but the van sank and filled with water.

The soldiers stood on the back box.

Civilians who were in the area rescued the soldiers to a safe area.

The vehicle continued to deteriorate and got stuck in the stream.

At the end of the rescue, two soldiers and a foreman were evacuated to Yoseftal Hospital with suspected hypothermia.

An IDF spokesperson stated that the incident happened about three weeks ago. "During engineering work in the Yatbata area of the Yoav Brigade, a mounted engineering force entered the stream.

The force was rescued without casualties.

The commander of the division will investigate the incident, after which the commander of the engineering force will be tried for disciplinary action by the commander of the Yoav brigade."

A military official emphasized that the soldiers went to work in the Nahalim area - and it is not clear why they approved the mission in the Nahalim area, which is visited by floods every year. "There is no way they talked to The divisional safety officer and he approved the mission for them when everyone knows what the weather is like in the area.

Who sent them on an engineering mission on such a day to the river area in the field?", the source wondered.

The source attacked, "The punishment is too light and not a deterrent.

I don't want to expand on the serious damage done to the van, water got into all the electrical systems.

At the end of the event, two soldiers were treated for suspected hypothermia, the van got stuck in the river channel, and the event ended with a miracle.

If the soldiers had insisted on staying in the van, the results would have been dire."

In January 2019, the paratrooper fighter Avitar Yosef was killed in training in Nahal Hilzon.

One of the soldiers crossed the stream, and Sergeant Avitar Yousfi also tried to do so after him, but he slipped.

The soldier threw his personal rope at his friend, but Yosef was unable to grab it, and was swept away by the current of the stream.
