Erdan's condemnation and response:
40 member states of the United Nations stated today (Tuesday) that they oppose and condemn Israel's measures and the sanctions it imposes on the Palestinian Authority: "They call for the immediate removal of the punitive measures." Among other things, these are initiatives by the Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, who transferred approximately NIS 138 million from the Palestinian Authority to victims of terrorism.
In their protest they wrote: "We condemn the government's decision regarding the imposition of punitive measures against the Palestinian leadership and civil society, after a request from the assembly for an opinion from the International Criminal Court."
Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, attacked the countries that condemned Israel's actions: "The Palestinians are taking advantage of the distorted mechanism of the UN to use political terrorism and try to harm Israel.
This is a meaningless declarative statement and every country that signed it only added fuel to the fire of incitement and terrorism of the Palestinians, and removed any chance of reconciliation."
