A convicted mafia convict, Massimiliano Sestito, aged 52,
escaped
on the evening of January 30 from the house where he was serving home detention in Pero, in the Milanese area.
The man, according to the carabinieri, tampered with the electronic bracelet to escape.
Sestito, believed to be affiliated with the Catanzaro 'Ndrangheta, has convictions for two murders, one of which for the murder of a police officer in 1991, Renato Lio, and the other for a boss, Vincenzo Femia, in 2013. He had been released from prison from Terni on 12 January last.
The investigations are in charge of the Carabinieri of Milan.
