Aleppo-SANA

Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous, affirmed that the damage caused by the earthquake is great, especially in Aleppo and Latakia, indicating that the priority now is to rescue those under the rubble.

Engineer Arnous said during his inspection today, accompanied by the Ministers of Public Works and Housing, Suhail Abdul Latif, and Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash, the sites affected by the earthquake in Aleppo, through my knowledge of the situation in Lattakia, there was very great damage, and we may resort to identifying affected places, and I hope that the situation in Aleppo will not be similar. And if this is the case, we will not hide the truth, and all countries of the world in such cases declare their affected areas and leave the world to deal with the situation, indicating that the blockade and sanctions caused the suffering of the Syrian people, and this disaster came to exacerbate this suffering for the state and citizens.

Engineer Arnous added: There are great efforts and heroics in the rescue operations despite the weakness of the capabilities as a result of the unjust war, but the sacrifice, redemption, cooperation and courage of everyone who does this work covered up a large part of the shortfall, explaining that there are directives for all concerned on the ground to know the reality of buildings other than Dangerous collapsed buildings and buildings that allow the people to return to them in order to reassure our people in a scientific and thoughtful manner, and there are great efforts from the Engineers Syndicate in all state departments for this purpose.

Engineer Arnous pointed out that most of the friendly and brotherly countries sent aid, and there are many countries that have expressed their willingness to bring aid into Syria, while we will leave the position of the United States and some countries that hesitated to provide assistance to history and the conscience of humanity.

For his part, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash, said: The number of deaths in the affected governorates reached 1262, and the injuries reached 2285, in an indefinite toll, and in Aleppo, the number of deaths so far reached 415, and the injuries 1050, indicating that a disaster of this magnitude places additional pressure on the suffering health sector. Mainly a shortage of medical materials and equipment, as a result of Western sanctions and the unjust blockade imposed on Syria. Despite this, the necessary supplies for the work of hospitals have been provided, and the medical staff is doing its duty to the fullest.

Al-Ghobash added: We have received a lot of calls in the Ministry of Health from many doctors, whether from home or abroad, and we welcome their initiatives, but the need is primarily for life-saving medical equipment, pointing out that the World Health Organization has been informed of the urgent and necessary need for all medical supplies, and a batch of aid will arrive. organization today or tomorrow.

Al-Ghobash pointed out that the blockade prevents many suppliers from supplying medical devices, equipment and medicines to Syria, and we call from the heart of this disaster the international community, the World Health Organization and all organizations and countries to intervene immediately and urgently to provide all possible assistance to the health sector and all life-saving sectors.
