Ask an Italian his three favorite “brands”: he will invariably answer Ferrari, Armani and… La Scala, whose real name is Teatro alla Scala.
The order of preference changes from year to year, but these three names remain the same.
That is to say that, in the collective unconscious of the inhabitants of the peninsula, opera retains a preponderant place.
Every great city has its own temple.
