The charred body found in the middle of the forest in Argol (Finistère) on Thursday
"is indeed that
of Héléna Cluyou
"
, announced the public prosecutor of Brest, Camille Miansoni, during a press conference this Saturday morning.
“
The autopsy did not make it possible to precisely determine the cause of death
”, also informed the magistrate.
The young student nurse who should have celebrated her 21st birthday on February 1, had not given any sign of life since Sunday January 29 at 5:20 am, at the exit of One Club, a nightclub in the port of Brest.
A CCTV image, taken at 6.42am, shows her walking down a street between the nightclub and her grandparents' home where she lived.
The sole suspect in the case, Sylvain L., a 36-year-old from Brest, died on Thursday.
The man had tried to end his life twice last week, after confiding to relatives "
having done something stupid, that his life was over
" and that "
it was an accident
."
His vehicle was found burned last week in a sensitive area of Brest.
A suspect in “psychological distress”
It was his brother and his companion who had warned the investigators.
The couple had traveled from Tours to help the young man, alerted by his state of psychological distress.
In view of his confession, they had accompanied him to the police station on Friday but the suspect could not be heard and had to be hospitalized.

According to the first elements of the investigation, he would not have spent the night in the discotheque where Héléna Cluyou was.
He was banned from entering by the management of the establishment, "
because of his alcohol and drug problems
" and would have frequented many bars and establishments at night until the early morning.
The hypothesis of a traffic accident had been raised at first, after the statements of the suspect.
"
It's a hypothesis but a hypothesis only
", had however warned the prosecutor, as of Sunday.
