Could an NFT of "John Lemon", the mascot of the Lemon Festival in Menton, sell for as much as a monkey from the Bored Ape Yacht collection, finding a buyer at several million euros?

This is all that the Menton municipality, the

My Hologram

company and the Nice artist Faben, the actors of these NFT (non-fungible tokens) imagined for the 89th edition of the Lemon Festival, hope for, even if the primary ambition is not there.

If the traditional parades have not disappeared - the festivities started on Saturday and will last, like the Nice Carnival, until February 26 - the desire to digitize this edition of the Lemon Festival is above all intended to dust it off.

“We are in the field of the art of the NFT

, specifies Vanessa Rigaud, director of the company

My Hologram

, which designs and markets the Menton NFTs.

The idea was to put more pep in a party where we always see a little the same thing.

The lemony “John Lemon” mascot was therefore

“restyled and accessorized”

to create 5000 different NFTs.

The “rare” collection, with three-dimensional and animated NFTs each sold for 60 euros, has already found takers.

There are still more than 4000 models of the "classic" series at 30 euros.

“They are very accessible

,” insists Vanessa Rigaud, explaining that it is possible to buy them by credit card and by cryptocurrency.

“Having a Lemon Festival NFT allows you to hold part of the intangible heritage of the city of Menton”

, underlines the municipality.

The asset can be resold on markets dedicated to NFTs, used for immersive games, or kept as a digital work of art.

Rock'n'roll touch

The artist Faben put his mark on each of the lemons transformed into NFT in line with the rock'n'roll theme of this edition.

Various trinkets, ranging from a guitar to hats or even jackets and glasses, come to dress the mascot.

“There was really an artistic opportunity to give a facelift to this party

, explains Faben.

There, it is a John Lemon street-artist, urbanized and we recognize my universe.

Of the 5,000 NFTs designed, 34 will be displayed on the façade of the Palais de l'Europe.

These three-dimensional and animated mascots will also be present on the floats of the nocturnal parades on February 16 and 23.

Fans will allow a hologram to appear, giving a more concrete image of the NFT.

This week, the company

My Hologram

will also go to Paris, to the NFT Factory, to present the "John Lemon".

And why not arouse a crush on a potential buyer.
