In this regard, a group of Jordanian youth recently launched a voluntary initiative to support the Syrian pound and contribute to raising its exchange rate against foreign currencies by converting any Jordanian amount into the Syrian pound, which contributes to supporting the Syrians in light of the difficult circumstances that their country is going through as a result of the devastating earthquake.

Mustafa Al-Maaytah, a doctor from Al-Karak Governorate, who is the owner of the idea of ​​the initiative, explained to SANA reporter that the initiative is based on converting any available Jordanian amount into the Syrian pound, even if the amount is one dinar and officially does not violate the law and without making any profit, with the aim of supporting the Syrian pound in light of The conditions that Syria suffers from are the effects of the reflection of the years of war and the earthquake that hit the country.

Al-Maaytah explained that the initiative was welcomed by Jordanians in the various governorates of the Kingdom, who rushed to convert their dinars into the Syrian pound, each according to his financial ability.

Doctor Khaled Naim Al-Baqain, a resident of the Jordanian capital, Amman, did not hesitate to participate in the initiative with a number of his friends, as they went to the exchange offices and transferred Jordanian sums of money into the Syrian currency, indicating that some of them wished to keep the Syrian paper currency as a reminder of the Jordanians standing by their brothers. Syrians, and try to provide support, even if it is moral.

For his part, a member of the Jordanian Money Exchange Association, Alaa Diranieh, pointed out that the demand for the Syrian pound increased by 50 percent until the amount available in some offices ran out, as a result of the popularity of the initiative among the Jordanian people, after the earthquake that caused human and material losses to the brothers in Syria.
