The finance committee discussed today (Wednesday) the funding requirements of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sarah.

The committee, chaired by MK Moshe Gafni (Torah Judaism), discussed the request to allow Netanyahu to use his private residence in Jerusalem as an alternative residence to the official residence. Accordingly, according to the request, the state will bear all expenses required for the operation and maintenance of the official residence as well as hospitality expenses. According to Netanyahu's request , the state will also bear all the expenses of the private house in Caesarea.

The Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, Yossi Shelli, who submitted the document on Netanyahu's behalf to the committee, also requested that the state finance his wife Sara's participation expenses in events, conferences and delegations in Israel and abroad even if she is not together with Netanyahu. According to the request, the clothing expenses for the Prime Minister and his wife will increase from NIS 45,000 until today to NIS 80,000. Also, Netanyahu will have the option of four jobs instead of two as personnel in his dormitory. Many Knesset members from the Likud came to the yeshiva, Even though they are not members of the committee, this is at Netanyahu's request.

At the beginning of the hearing, the CEO explained the request he submitted and said that "the house in Balfour was destroyed, there is nothing intact in it.

It's been a year and a half since the government changed and it will take at least two more years until the renovation is finished, that's a long time.

The Prime Minister was offered a number of residential alternatives and after considering things, he chose to live in his private residence.

It will be a kind of hybrid creature, both his private residence in Jerusalem that will serve as an official residence and his private home.

After we approve the request, everything is subject to procedures."

During his remarks, members of the opposition protested the request and shouted at him: "Is this what is urgent now with the cost of living?", "Was there any precedent for this at all?".

The chairman of the opposition, MK Yair Lapid, attacked Netanyahu.

"While the cost of living is at its peak, interest rates are rising and the shekel is collapsing, what is important to Netanyahu is to convene an urgent discussion in the finance committee to increase his family expenses," he wrote on Twitter.

"The citizens of Israel are collapsing under the economic burden, but what is important now is that the state finances the Netanyahu family's makeup and renovations. When I was prime minister, of course, it never occurred to me to ask for reimbursement of expenses on my private home. There is no limit to detachment and lack of shame."
