Another tumultuous parliamentary day is on the agenda: after the amendments to the Basic Law: The Judiciary have been passed in the first reading in the Knesset plenum, the coalition is expected to put up for preliminary reading today a series of laws aimed at making further changes in the judicial system.
The law that is a supplement to another part of the reform is a private proposal by MK Simcha Rotman for a supersession clause with a majority of 61 MKs.
The meaning of the law is actually to enshrine in the legislation the possibility of Knesset members to override a decision of the High Court on the invalidity of a law, through a vote in the Knesset that will be approved by a majority of 61 MKs.

Disqualification of laws - only unanimously
This is another tool that will strengthen the Knesset, after the proposal to state that the High Court of Justice cannot invalidate fundamental laws passed the first reading. Yesterday, Rothman held a discussion on another law of the reform, which states that the High Court of Justice can invalidate ordinary laws of the Knesset only with the unanimity of the top judges - 15 out of 15.

The High Court will not be able to interfere in ministerial appointments

The purpose of the law is to bypass Deri's disqualification from serving as a minister, and to state that the High Court cannot disqualify ministerial appointments on any legal grounds, to ensure that after the amendment of the law - Deri will safely return to serve as a minister. Also, Deri Law 2 is promoted alongside the legal reform legislation, which states that the High Court of Justice will not be able to discuss basic laws - so that in fact Deri Law 2 will be legally protected.

The Ministry of Justice will be subordinated to the Minister of Justice
Another law that is expected to come up in the plenum for a preliminary reading is the law of the Mahash, which was published for the first time in "Israel Hayom". The law was drafted by MK Moshe Saada (Likud), who was appointed to the party list by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and who served as deputy head of the Mahash That.

This is an initiative that shakes the law enforcement system.
In the new bill, a move is planned to remove the State Attorney's Office from the hands of the Prosecutor's Office, subordinate it directly to the Minister of Justice and add authority to the State Attorney's Office to investigate attorneys, including the investigation of the State Attorney.
The opponents claim that this is a recipe for the dissolution of the National Security Agency, so that it will be subject to political factors.
