2023-02-23T12:08:31.510Z

Specialized personnel are still working to remove all the product spilled after the accident of the truck that was transporting it in Ituzaingó.

The toxic cargo transported by the truck that had an accident at the West Access and generated an alarming cloud of smoke

caught fire again during the early morning

and delayed the vehicle's skills.

Environment personnel from the province of Buenos Aires, together with the volunteer firefighters, on Thursday examined the truck that on Wednesday afternoon, a few meters from the central toll of the Western highway, spilled a product that caused a toxic

cloud

.

The vehicle is still in place and specialized personnel worked there to remove all the spilled product.

In any case, this situation

does not affect traffic in the area for now

, according to road sources.

The removal of the vehicle and the start of the tests were delayed because around midnight

the load of the truck caught fire

and the flames had to be extinguished, which caused a new cloud.

The accident occurred

around 6:00 p.m. at kilometer 26 of the highway

, when the cargo truck carrying toxic products dumped its contents between the exits of Martín Fierro and Barcala streets, hand in hand that goes to the province.

As

Clarín

was able to reconstruct based on highway, municipal and provincial sources, the truck stopped on the road.

It is suspected that the driver recorded that the cargo had taken a temperature.

When stopping on the freeway, the vehicle was already sending out a strong column of smoke.

And when the box was opened, there was a flare that turned into a fire, they presume, due to a chemical reaction.

"The fire caused all the material that was being transported to be consumed and that finished dissipating in the air. There is still a presence of the cloud," they said from Civil Defense, late at night.

The reasons why the combustion occurred are still unclear.

The sources of the operation evaluate between a failure in transport or in the source deposit that led to a reaction that caused

the chemical to enter a "state of instability"

.

The vehicle was carrying 24,000 liters of Clethodim, a herbicide used to control grasses.
