A pensioner from Holzkirchen recognized an attempt at fraud just in time.

Before that, he had been in contact with a fake police officer for a week.

Holzkirchen

– The police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South warns again of a never-ending wave of so-called legend fraud cases and shock calls.

With an invented story, a fraudster was almost successful in Holzkirchen - the victim became suspicious just in time.

Wrong policeman demands order from gold trade

As a spokeswoman for the Bureau explains, the affected senior had been contacted by a fake police officer for over a week.

The scam: a note with his name and address would have been found on two of those arrested, the scammers had apparently explained to Holzkirchner.

Therefore he should bring his money to safety.

As far as the scam is known, writes the police.

"What's new is the fact that the man was asked to transfer a five-figure sum to a gold dealer and have gold bars sent to his home address." middleman would have been picked up.

"Fortunately, the 87-year-old became suspicious and, with the help of his bank, was able to stop the transfer that had already been made," the spokeswoman continued.

The pensioner did not suffer any financial damage.

The scammers had more success in the Rosenheim area.

A 66-year-old had deposited a high four-digit amount of money in the parking lot of a grocery store in Rosenheim last Friday, February 24, after numerous phone calls to two alleged police officers.

Only then did she turn to the real police.

"When they drove to the parking lot, the money was no longer there," explains the spokeswoman for the Bureau.

Police appeal to seniors and younger generation

To protect themselves from the "perfidious scammers", the police now urgently warns: "Be careful and do not hand over either money or valuables!" Again and again, senior citizens in particular are victims of the invented stories and sometimes lose horrendous sums.

The police are now giving further advice.

In the wording: That advises the police
