The US State Department said today (Monday) that it is very concerned about the violent events of the last two days in Israel and the territories.
In a press briefing, US State Department spokesman Ned Price condemned the attacks in Hawara and near Jericho as well as the pogrom in Hawara and emphasized that the US expects Israel to devote the same resources to prevent violence against Israelis and Palestinians and to prosecute those responsible. We condemn the widespread and indiscriminate violence by
settlers against Palestinian citizens. These acts are unacceptable. We appreciate the words of Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Herzog who called for calming the situation. We expect the Israeli government to ensure that those responsible will be prosecuted for their actions in addition to paying compensation to the victims for the damages," said Price.

Price added: "Israel must act with the same degree of determination in all cases of violence and invest the same resources to prevent such attacks and prosecute those responsible. The recent events highlight the fragile situation in the West Bank and the need for cooperation. Israel and the Palestinians must work together to restore calm ".
