A real revolution:
an illustration of the famous Swiss mountain Matterhorn, which appears on all Toblerone packaging, will be removed from the packs of the beloved chocolate bar - and a generic mountain will appear in its place.
The reason for the dramatic change: moving part of the chocolate production line outside of Switzerland.
Following the move of production to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, the chocolate giant Mondelez International announced the removal of the mountain illustration, in order not to violate the country's law, which allows the use of state symbols only for companies that incorporate in their products at least 80% raw materials originating from Switzerland, while the requirement for dairy products is to -100% of local milk.
matterhorn mountain,
In response to reports in the country, the company's spokesperson stated that "our new packaging design will feature a modern mountain logo that will align with the geometric and triangular aesthetics of our chocolate."
Beyond the change in the unique mountain display, the company will also change the inscription from "made in Switzerland" to one that mentions that the company was founded in Switzerland.
It is important to note that the Swiss law in question was enacted in 2017, and it practically prohibits any international company engaged in the production of raw materials or products of various types, from using the country's symbols other than according to the exact criteria specified therein.
