A week ago, a 40-year-old man was killed when his car crashed into a wall near Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem, after allegedly setting fire to his ex-wife's apartment in the Gila neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The woman, in her 30s, was taken to the city's Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in serious condition.

According to testimony, the man poured gasoline on the woman and the apartment, set it on fire and ran away.

The woman broke free and started screaming in the stairwell, burst into one of the apartments and screamed, "Burn me, burn me."

The owner of the apartment ran to hear her screams and saw her burning, with a hanging rope around her neck.

Moments before she was put to sleep, she told the medical teams and neighbors who treated her: "My ex-husband burned me."

Yesterday the residents of Ashdod, the mother of a 10-year-old boy and his stepfather, were arrested on suspicion of acts of violence against their son.

The two were arrested following a report received by the police about signs of injury on the boy's body, when he arrived at school.

From the police investigation, the suspicion arose that the 10-year-old's mother used violence against him and his stepfather watched what was happening without acting to prevent it.
