Miesbach – The decision has been made: The 2023 bike tour of Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) does not stop in Miesbach, but in the neighboring district of Rosenheim, in Bruckmühl.
The BR announced this.
As reported, the transmitter in Miesbach had asked whether the city wanted to take part as a stopover this year.
The interest of the city council was great, because the media focus, which would have fallen on the district town through radio and TV reports alone, would have brought many advantages in terms of tourism.
The motto "Cycling during the day - partying in the evening" of the bike tour, which is now rolling through the Free State for the 32nd time, would probably have brought many visitors.
However, the city had to decline the invitation.
The reason: the extremely tight budgetary situation did not allow the financial contribution of between 20,000 and 70,000 euros expected by BR.
For Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU), the cancellation had no alternative: “Such an issue would not have been possible and would not have been mediatable.
But maybe it will work another time when we are financially better off.”
Now the BR bike tour, which starts in Murnau on July 30th and ends in Vilshofen an der Donau on August 4th, passes Miesbach.
Arrival in Bruckmühl is scheduled for July 31st.
From there it goes on to Traunstein and around the Chiemsee.
