US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden will travel to Rolling Fork, a town in Mississippi (south) recently devastated by a tornado, on Friday March 31, the White House announced on Wednesday.
The presidential couple will, according to a press release,
“repeat their commitment to support the people of Mississippi for as long as it takes”
, after the devastating passage of tornadoes which killed at least 25 people and caused immense damage in the city. Southern State.
Joe and Jill Biden will speak with emergency services, elected officials and residents, according to the White House.
Rolling Fork, a municipality of some 2,000 inhabitants, was hit hard last Friday by these tornadoes which traveled the Mississippi from west to east for more than 150 km.
13 people died there, and the town suffered considerable damage.
Joe Biden had ordered the deployment of federal aid on Sunday, which is used for temporary housing, repairs and loans at reduced rates to cover losses of uninsured property.
