Five mistakes you make when you clean the house (Instagram/@home_reimagined2)
Are you also preparing or in the midst of the thorough and exhausting cleanings of Passover?
A popular cleaning agent called @homes_reimagined2 on Instagram and TikTok shared with her followers five mistakes most of us make when cleaning the house and even if we think we are cleaning as thoroughly as possible, these are mistakes that usually repeat themselves over and over and over again.
But not anymore.
The first mistake is to clean with a rag immediately after you put the cleaning agent on the surface (marble, stove, etc.).
When you spray the cleaner, give it some time to sit on the surface and dissolve the bacteria.
Instead of wiping immediately - which is a mistake, let the material stand and do its job.
On most cleaning products there is a matza for the time you should let them "sit" before you rub them in or wipe them, but usually the material should be left between 2 and 5 minutes on the surface and only then wipe with a rag.

1) Not letting the product sit to penetrate the germs long enough: If you are wiping up right away, then you aren't letting the product do its job and eat up the grime while disinfecting!
2) Using too much product in mop bucket or not wringing out your mop enough?: If your floors are ending up streaky, it means the mop head has too much water on it (wring it out better) and if the floors come out cloudy , then you have put too much product in the bucket?
3) Not vacuuming carpet in cross direction: If you are only vacuuming one direction and not flipping and vacuuming sideways/the other direction afterwards, you aren't getting deep into the carpet fibers and picking everything up!

4) Not dusting or vacuuming surfaces first:
ensuring you are dusting or using a soft haired brush to vacuum dirt and debris before wiping any surface is very important to ensure you aren't just adding water to dirt and creating mud in your home!

5) Not Maintaining Your Cleaning Machines: Make sure you are cleaning and maintaining your cleaning machines and rags properly, so that you can extend the lifetime of them!

The next mistake you might make is not cleaning the dust before you spray the cleaning agents.
If you really want to get rid of the dirt, spraying the dust with wet products will only spread it around, instead of removing it.
And one last thing: take care to maintain your cleaning devices (vacuum cleaners, Dysons, etc.).
These devices require periodic maintenance that includes cleaning filters and also replacing parts if necessary.
If you take care of them properly, they will last much longer and work much better.
