Electricity and gas bills: how much do you have to earn now to have subsidies and how to apply for them

2023-04-28T09:26:16.062Z

Being tied to the cost of the basic basket, the maximum income to maintain the aid was raised. They ask to sign up for a registry.

Before, electricity and gas bills received subsidies in a general way.

But since mid-2022, the Government has decided to concentrate state aid on medium- and low-income households, and

phase it out

 for

high-income

households .

In the next few days, in fact, electricity

users

categorized as high income

will end up removing

the subsidy that they still had, which could lead to increases of 60% in the Capital and Greater Buenos Aires, as reported by

Clarín

.

As for gas, there are also strong jumps expected for this group's winter bills.

In order

not to lose

the discounts, or to be able to

recover them

, a family must declare or have declared in an official registry that it has

income below

the established limit.

And it is convenient to stay informed because this

income barrier

 is

updated every month

at the same rate as the INDEC basic basket, which has been increasing strongly (8% in March; 8.3% in February; 7.2% in January). .

Therefore, there may be households that until

recently were not eligible

, but

now they are

because they became poorer with the inflationary jump.

Others, perhaps, had entered the middle category and now it would be their turn to move down, which receives

more help

.

The Government advances with the removal of subsidies to electricity and gas.

What is RASE and what is it for?

The Registry of Access to Energy Subsidies (

RASE

) remains

open

and the Secretary of Energy has been asking all those who need the subsidy

to register

, since otherwise the State

will presume that they have a high income

and will make them pay the full cost of energy.

On the other hand, those who had already enrolled in the RASE have the possibility of

modifying their application

 to inform that

their

economic situation has changed

, and require moving to the category corresponding to this new reality.

It is also possible

to renounce subsidies

, something that many have been doing to be able to

buy dollars through home banking or with the MEP and CCL operations, since it was clarified that the recipients of subsidies are prevented from accessing foreign currency through these channels.

In any case, everything can be managed online through the official portal argentina.gob.ar/subsidios.

Other options are to go to an ANSES office (with shift), to a Digital Point or one of the

stands

that the Ministry of Energy installed in very crowded places of the AMBA.

In the railway terminals there are posts where you can apply for subsidies.

How much do you have to earn now to have electricity and gas subsidies?

Households whose members earn more than "

3.5 basic baskets

for a type 2 household" enter the

higher-income

segment ,

which is on its way to end

without subsidies .

That figure, updated on April 20, is equivalent to

$669,298

per month

(three months ago it was

$553,803

).

For Patagonia there is a special floor of

$816,543

.

They also go to the group of the wealthiest -known as "N1"- who have at least

 3 vehicles

less than 5 years old,

3 buildings

or a luxury boat or plane in their name.

In the

middle segment

or "N3", which will continue to be somewhat subsidized, are families that earn between 1 and 3.5 basic baskets, which now represents

between $191,228 and $669,298

per month.

Here it is allowed to have no more than

2 properties

and no more than

1 vehicle

less than 3 years old.

Finally, to belong to the

low segment

or "N2", which will continue to be highly subsidized, the requirement is that the household income does not reach 1 basic basket, today

$191,228

per month.

In addition, you cannot have more than 1 property or vehicles that are less than 3 years old.

If these conditions are not met, certain households can still be included as N2: for example, those with a member with a disability, with a ReNaBaP certificate or a Malvinas veteran.

How to enroll in the RASE to maintain the subsidies?

The procedure, available at argentina.gob.ar/subsidios, can be done by the

actual user of the services

, regardless of whether they are not in their name, or whether they are tenants or already receiving the Social Rate.

This procedure is only for electricity

and

gas

bills

.

Those for water and sewers have a separate process, which can be consulted in this note.
